Yumiko Hasegawa herb dyeing and weaving／Fukuoka Prefecture

This pongee is woven with pink and gray silk threads dyed only with cherry blossom branches.
This is the state of the fabric before it is woven and sent out for provisional tailoring. The silk threads are woven with a floating weave technique, so you can see the luster of the silk threads as they move.
At the exhibition of ITOBA, a textile group I belong to. Both kimonos are made of silk dyed by plants and trees.

Biography

Profile

What inspired you to get into this work?

My job in my 20s was quite hard work, so I can continue to do it as I get older.
I entered the college as a side trip before changing jobs.
I found weaving at a vocational school as a side trip before changing jobs. I was convinced that weaving would be a job for the rest of my life.
After graduation, I learned weaving techniques from artists and at a dyeing and weaving school, and then started my own business.

What do you want to appeal the most in your work?

I am proud of the fact that my products are one-of-a-kind, hand-dyed and hand-woven in the traditional way, using the highest grade silk threads,
