Biography
1928 Born in Chiba City
1944 Kyoritsu Women's Technical School (now Kyoritsu Women's University)
After working as a Tsumi-ga instructor, studied Suiboku-ga (ink painting) for about 20 years
Started Hakata-ori weaving in 1980
Certified as a traditional craftsman in the Hakata-ori weaving department in 1993 (the first woman to be certified as a traditional craftsman)
Held solo exhibitions in various locations
1997 Organized the 1st Women Traditional Artists Exhibition at ACROS Fukuoka.
1998 Established "Anraku", a companion workshop of herb-dyeing and hand-weaving.
2000 President of the Women's Division of the Japan Association of Traditional Artisans
2010: The Women's Division was dissolved, and the Women's Association of Traditional Art Craftsmen and Women was newly established, and she became its representative.
Lecturer at Hakataori Development College (until 2008)
2014: Retired from the position of representative of the Women's Association of Traditional Craftsmen and Artisans of Japan
Participated in the exhibition at Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square
Participated in the Across Fukuoka Women Traditional Craftsmen's Exhibition every year
January 2020: Retired as a traditional Hakata-ori craftswoman
Awards
Received the National Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Award and the Excellent Design Award at the National Traditional Crafts Contest in 1996.
1998 Awarded the Tamaya Prize at the Fukuoka Prefecture Senior Art Exhibition.
2001 Special Prize, Exhibition of Works by the Japan Traditional Art Craftsmen's Association, Japan
2003 Special Prize, Exhibition of Works, Japan Traditional Art Craftsmen's Association, Japan.
2006 First Prize, Japan Traditional Art Craftsmen's Association Chairman's Award
